Exporting Texture from Zbrush to Maya

Hello, my friends…

I’ve been studying Zbrush hard, and now I’m just trying to apply my textures on Maya to render it at the end… but as you can see, I’m having great problems.

How can you help me to solve this?

Here is what I’ve been doing:

I’ve made the model from a Sphere in Zbrush… exported as an obj to Maya… saved… imported to Zbrush and painted, generating the texture… but when I export to Maya they simply do not fit.

Cheers to everyone!

It looks like you don’t have any of your UVs laid out. I usually start modeling in Maya, do the UVs in Maya, THEN export as obj into ZBrush to start sculpting/texturing. You must do your UVs before you export to ZBrush.

However, since you did this with a ZSphere first, you will need to retopologize. ZSpheres do not have UV’s automatically done. An old instructor of mine developed a decent method of doing this and it may help.

Go here, http://www.jcappelletti.com/ , and at the bottom, he has a couple of tutorial vids. Hope this helps!

Hey Branden!

Thanks a lot for the post…

to tell you the truth I’ve found the solution… I had to type -1 in the “repeat UV” option on Maya… fantastic, huh?

Thanks for the other hints!

Cheers!
