exporting my model to max to unwrap and import it back

i search and tried every solution and still it will not work. i did search but it will nto work. i even did a test to see if i was doing it right. i exported on level 2 and immediately re imported it back in and it worked. but as soon as i take it into max even if i don’t change it and reimport it wont work. it says of course not the same excat points. please any help you guys can give me about the settings will be helpful.

i even tried to unwrap in z brush but it will only allow you to do it on the lowest sub division, but i have to do it from sub 2 and it want let me delete the first sub level. some one please help me.

what version of Zbrush and Max are you using?
why can’t you delete the lowest subD?
what are your import and export options inside of Max and Zbrush?

ok thanks for the reply

my model use’s hd geometry and because of that i can’t delete the sub levels. they are blacked out completely.

I’m using z brush 3.1 and 3d studio max 2010
i don’t have any options for reporting from z brush it just says export it. also i noticed the points are slightly different z brush says there are 36820 points and max exports it back with 36968

I am going crazy trying to get this thing to work and nothing will work. is the hd gemotery the problem.

please someone help me

massive pain in the arse…but here goes

first…export option for zbrush are in tool>export (at the bottom).
go into preferences>import/export>turn everything off.

export out the model.
import into max. turn everything off except texture coordinates.
convert the mesh into an ePoly
unwrap it.
export it…everything turned off but texture coordinates again.
import it directly into max again
export it out again.

import it into max. That should do the trick.
When autodesk bought mudbox…all of the sudden Zbrush and Max don’t play well together…go figure.

the HD geo could be the problem. I don’t mess with it at all since 3.5r3 can handle around 20million polygons on my machine without becoming unstable.

I can’t think of a place where I would need more than 20million polygons since that is well over a 4k map.

my 2 cents.

I’ll try it yet again for some reason it’s still not working and i don’t know how to get rid of the hd geometry,

might be better of going to an older version of 3d studio max before they brought mudbox, or switching to maya
