Exporting displacment maps under 3.12

I am kinda lost here. When I go under Alpha I don’t see the DE expoter, which I am guessing is either yet to come or obsolete, but I dont see the displacement map I created either, so I am unable to select it and export the map.

I do see the map under the displacment map tab but there is no button there to export it.

In short, how do you export a displacment map under 3.12? for that matter how would you export a normal map?

  1. Press “Clone Disp” and then export from the alpha palette.
  2. DE Exporter will be updated (or integrated) in future releases.

OK, Thanks. Not sure why these steps get added, need to keep it simple and intuitive for the user.
I have another question the brackets keys don’t seem to work for resizing brushes incrementally, has this changed?

It has to do with the new texture management that makes it possible to have multiple textures and displacement maps (each subtool can now have a texture and/or displacement map assigned). This also simplified the creation of displacement maps.

As for the ‘brackets keys’. This plugin in is the ZPlugin palette. Open the ZPlugin:MiscUtilities sub-palette. CTRL click on the ‘<<’ button and assign the key you want (usually the ‘[’ key), then CTRL click on the '>>'button and assign the other key (usually the ‘]’ key). That is all.
When you exit ZBrush , you will be asked if you want to save the hotkey configuration file, click yes.

Thanks aurick, that was helpful. I am sure it makes perfect sense with the new texture management, I will have to figure how the multiple texture maps work and take advantage of it.

Thanks also for the info on the hot key setup for resizing bruhes, always assumed it was hardwired into the app and could not be configured.
