Exporting and Rendering questions from R3..

I’m done my model and I have created a couple textures in Zbrush. Was glad to figure that out. unfortunately a couple things are eluding me and have stopped me in my tracks… please help me out with whatever you can…

  1. creating cavity maps. how do I do this with R3? Create a white texture and bake it from a cavity mask?

2.exporting / importing displacement maps into Maya. So with Zbrush R3 I can export out an MA file but cannot open it in Maya. So i’m trying to find the best way to export and set up a displacement map in Maya. Do I have to change the exported image to a RGB mode file? Maya doesn’t seem to recognize my TIFs and one time I go it to work by saving it as a JPG and parts of the mesh showed up transparant. Anyone know of a good tutorial for recent methods? Or can quickly explain the jist of what I need to do?

3.SSS in Maya…anyone know a good tutorial for realistic SSS in recent versions of Maya? How to make the maps properly, light the scene etc. as well?
