Exported texture map looks a bit jagged

I’m still a bit new to ZBrush but here’s my problem.

So I’m working on a fish. Looks like this in Zbrush. Subdivision level 7.

I exported the model with a normal map and texture map to Maya. Both maps are 4096x4096. Here’s how the texture map comes out. Notice how it looks a bit jagged, unlike the polypaint we see on the model above.

Here’s the fish in Maya. Normals look fine. The textures, however, don’t look nearly as clean as they did in ZBrush. I circled the most noticeable parts.

I tried exporting the texture map at a bigger size. Also tried increasing subdivision level then exporting again. Nothing worked.

So why does this happen?

How does the mesh look in those areas? Any stretching or distortions visible?

Now that you mention it, all of the distortion seems to be influenced by the topology. This gives me a few ideas for a solution…

Update:

Still lost

The Tool->Texture Map has an anti-alias button there, click it, it may help.

I clicked anti alias and exported but I didn’t see any difference at all. This is the first time I’ve tried using it though.

Thanks anyway.

Maybe increasing ur UV Map resolution would help? Go to Tool->UV Map and set the size to something higher than what you have now, e.g. from 512x512 -> 1024x1024, or 1024x1024 -> 2048x2048, etc. Then assuming your texture is a polypaint, go to Tool->Texture Map->Create->From Polypaint or some such. See if it works now.

I actually did try that before. I tried again just now. Basically, it increases the resolution but maintains the jaggedness.
