Export profile shapes

Hi

Is it possible to slice a model straight through and export the resulting shape as an Illustrator file?
Yes… I know that I can export the model and use a slice plane in 3ds max… however I am trying to find a way of doing this without Max.
(If I must purchase Max I will do so… I am looking for a less expensive alternative if it exists)

Please advise
Sorry for typos… doing this via phone

Merci beaucoup

Thank you for your time and help

Zbrush doesn’t export out .ai files.
you can use any other software besides max if $ is the problem.
blender will export out .ai I think, and it’s free.
wings 3d, cheetah, etc are all much cheaper alternatives.

I’m no expert in Illustrator, but if you slice the model to get the shape you want, view it as a silouette. Black on white and save it as a jpg, can’t you import that into illustrator and to ‘trace’?

yeah, what gordon said will work as well, it won’t be exact, but it should do the trick.
