export problems

hi all,
Mods please don’t move this to an obscure place on the forum or it will never get answered, for a while at least, have attached an image of a model Im working on, have gone through all the processes of building mesh with zspheres, roughing out, retopologising, reimporting, re sculpting, best way, in my opinion to learn a piece of software, I have added detail, and have gone into highdef mode to give it a try, have textured the head and upper body-
here my problems begin
I have tried alsorts of ways to get the model to max to do a test render, with no success, spent the last week scouring the forum for solutions looked at countless tutorials, but here is the thing, I know the precedure works, as i have tested it on a quick sphere that i subdivded, textured and sent to max with goz with no problems,
so any ideas why a model that has had so much work done on it will not export properly please help, im loosing my hair fast

1.mesh comes through ok, but when i send it back, i cannot edit it in anyway and its gone darker, added a few loops and they appear in zbrush
2, in max the displacement and normal map doesnt seem to work atall, have adjusted setting and tried alsorts, takes an age to render aswell or just crashes max
3. although the correct textures are in the material, you can not see them in the viewport

like i said tried it with a default sphere, subdivided 5 times that came through fine, so it must be a model issue, but am lost as to what to try next

anyone have a clue, tried everything i can think of, within my limited experience, hope someone can shed some light or provide some ideas as to whats going wrong
