Hello,
I modeled a little bot in Hexagon and exported it as obj. It has different material domains (glass, metal, …) saved in the obj. When I export the bot out of Zbrush, the obj no longer has the material domains and all parts just use one material called “defaultmat”, all others are erased.
Is there a way to keep the material domains in Zbrush?
Thanks,
Elele.
Go to ‘Preferences > Importexport > Import’ and turn on ‘Import Mat As Groups’ then ‘Ctrl+Shift+I’ to save the config. Your material domains will come in as individual polygroups.
OOPs! that’s for import…you want export…
Go to ‘Tool > Export’ and enable ‘Grp’ button to export your polygroup assignments. ZBrush doesn’t export material domains and will only import them as polygroups. The different polygroups will be different objects in your Hexagon Scene tree if the ‘Grp’ export option is enabled.
Thanks for your replies. And the import answer solves another thing i was wondering about
It’s a bummer that it doesn’t retain the material domains. But I found a workaround using DAZ Studio and GoZ, so everything worked out in the end, it will just take a little longer
thanks again!
Elele.
