evil samurai

this is a samurai ive been working on, I want to design bulky with lots of armor but I dont know how the heck im gonna pose it even with transpose master cause theres lots of parts that conflict with each other, ill see what I can do. Id really like to hear from you guys and let me know what i can do to make this sculpture better.

Hey really like the start of your samurai. good job and hope to see him finished. Me being such a newbie at zb I am sorry I can’t help with your prob. One thing I will say is metal amour doesn’t move too much especially the bigger stuff ie: the shoulder amour. Maybe pose him before making a whole bunch of little stuff or grouping smaller subtools into one. I doubt if I helped all I can say is good luck and happy zbrushing.

p.s. love that helmet and chest piece

nice start there … from my own humble experiance i would recommened you to rig the body in external package if you are aiming for some dynamic cool poses … if you have a pose in mind and you are 100% sure that model gonna be a still image … you can pose him in Zbrush and continue detailing as Seavannah said … and thats just my opinion of course … nice job n’ good luck finshing.

what kinds of programs can you use to rig the model? I have 3ds max 7 but I dont really know how to use it. I just wanna make one pose and add a sword.
how do you add objects to the model? add things like swords, guns, i only know how to do things like clothes n stuff.

you can rig it in 3dsmax but you would have to make a displacement map or it will crash for 2 many polygons. In practical manual for zb or on wiki page there is a tut on how to put your model into max look for the one that says zb to max and it should help there. In max you can use either the bip character in creative studio (with in max) or bones. A web page full of tuts that has helped me so much for max is http://www.3dtotal.com/ Go to freestuff and tutorials then to either modeling and rigging or animation and rigging. Max also has a few tuts in the help file but I really like 3dtotal especially the Joan of arc tut on there it shows all kinds of cool stuff on how to create a whole female character all for free.
One thing that I will say if you take it into max is that if you do detailing before you rig it to a pose such as the chest piece you did and make a displacement map make sure when in max your diplacement map modifier is on top in the list other wise it will crash. even mesh smooth or turbosmooth has to below it in the modifier list.

On the other question about the sword and the guns and stuff you can make them different subtools with in the same model just like clothing. also this thread if you don’t already have it is great for making all your subtools one tool which helps later on
http://www.zbrushcentral.com/zbc/showthread.php?t=47677 (this is for zb 3)

of course tanspose master if I understand it you don’t have to make it one mesh. It updates all of the subtools as well.
Good luck and hope this helps.
