Evil Genie...WIP...eyes and teeth

Here’s an update on my Evil Genie. he now has teeth and eyes!

as always, comments, questions and advice are welcome.

josh

oh, and here’s the lamp he’s gonna be coming out of. this lamp took about an hour an a half to model, texture and put together. it is not a polymesh, but i’m thinking of making it one.

good that you recovered… looks like you had to sneeze now and then

 texture, and a great teaser… cant wait for looking at the next step!

Glad you’re better!
I like the model, especially the colors, blue and dull red look so nice… :+1:
Also the squnchy expression is very cool…

Hi jibberish, I agree with Muvlo, very nice choice in colors. You’ve titled this an Evil Genie but seems he could go either way . . . . with the right teeth he’s revealing a toothy grin . . . . . with the right fangs he’s undeniably evil  I look forward to seeing him complete.

I am looking forward to seeing this guy progress. Sorry to “hear” you’d been sick - stay well

Very nice looking head model Josh-love the expression and the colors-to me it looks like he’s laughing-which shows that even
aliens(?)have a sense of humor-which is a neat and different light to show them in-not
withstanding the fact that the human race might be what he’s laughing at…anyway
it is a great start-I look forward to seeing how this image progresses.

Nice expression–texture–and Lighting–a real personality to his face–nice work–and glad to have you back !!! :+1: :+1: :+1:

hey, everyone. thanks so much for all the comments and advice. i, too, can’t wait till i get around to finishing the image. it should be a very fun process. anyway, thanks for your support. you guys are the best!

josh

you got a good start on that model looks good from over here :+1: :+1:

I was hoping I’d see this guy again!

One of my favorites. Could we see side views as well?

 :+1:

here you go, Kathy…a side view. as you can see, his head things go back pretty far. i haven’t thought up any use for them yet, so if anyone has any ideas, be sure to post them.

josh

Different, very different !!

I like this guy! Excellent texturing. That goes for the modelling as well. I’m anxious to see what you design in the way of eyes for this fella.

WOW! I love that side work. WELL done.

It makes me think of dinosaur’s plates on the back bone, or tale. What was that one? A Brontasaurus I think.

You could take them to an ornamental/defense mechanism.

He uses them to intimidate (Color changes, size or maybe shape)

He also uses them to attract the opposite sex …well whatever they call the opposite…hee hee. (changing textures and colors)

Possibly an aqualung movement, or maybe veins that pulse pumping blood out to the edges…

Just some thoughts.

very nice creach…can i ask what was the poly and subdiv setup for the model? I assume you used a sphere for deformation. Sometimes i have a hard time pushing deformations (as if not being able to push or pull beyond a limited amount) in my modeling and wonder if its because of my Primitive’s setup. I also asked this question from ed, because he does some really nice detailed modeling also. I want to know whats the best way to get those darn tight wrinkles and details on the skin when modeling creatures and heads.

zooooper, Josh, i love the profile! :+1: :+1: :+1:

thank you all for your comments and support. Kathy, thanks for the suggestions for uses for the head thing.

talos, i H- and V-divided the sphere before i started modeling. for the head shields, i made two ridges on his head (i had x-symmetry on) and then i masked everything but those two ridges. then i enlarged the ridges and pulled them out using Edit/Move. i hope this answers your question.

I like the red veins…nice touch…he is really coming along well…and I like the lamp…nice detail…can’t wait to see the final work of it coming outta the lamp …Are you going to be working on a body for this model or is he going to make a smoky appearance from the lamp? Like my peers, I am anxious to see yer completed scene …Keep up the great work… :+1:
