I made this is Wings, rendered in Cinema 4d demo. The purpose was to make a piece that’s physics are imposible. This is not done, I’m planning on having men with suitcases walking on both the right-side-up and up-side-down staircases, a girl on the swing, and water flowing up. I still don’t know what to do with the background, and I still have to add textures… So this is what I DO have done:

I’m also going to give you the .3ds file. It’s kind of interesting how from any view except the one that the picture is rendered from the picture looks really screwed up.

Cool try adaptation
Seems difficult with a 3D physic system(wings)without manual retouch to make optic illusion
I suppose that you have don’t missed this
Have happy impossible building!
Pilou fan of Maurits Cornelis

I always wondered, why so few ppl had not re-done things Escher showed us.
Maybe it’s because of the headaches that some of his pics seem to cause  !?
But, just like you said - Pilou - within a modeler some things just ain’t possible!

Hi Ze
Because MC was a genious
It’s not very easy to translate a mathematical theory in a one comprehensive artistic drawing !
I don’t know anyelse who made the same with this talent
Pilou

Pi, other geniousses have been copied over and over, I guess it is more the absurd geometry that takes place in most of his pics. Gives the mind a twist, sometimes it is hard to get away from looking!!

Hi Ze
Absolut no absurd !
It’s just adaptation and enlighting of a conceptual mental idea : a theorema (even mathematical)cristalized on a drawing quasi even aesthethic for more!
It’s this transfert who is genious because this mixed concept and representation
Show me another guy who makes that and i vote for him
Pilou fan of Maurits Cornelius

Pi, look   http://www.astrolog.org/labyrnth/movie.htm

Of course your link is terrific : a mono maniac is always interesting because he dig the subject in depth!!!
That is the beauty :)of the Net!
(some links to explore  )
But I don’t vote for that, it’s a copy, an interpretation of an esher etching not a new creation about a new concept

Your new nickname? “Watson”, elementary my dear

Have happy new finding of mono maniacs
Pïlou
ps your mono maniac is also astrolog

Hi Ze

Now movies are some “convenus”

Zere: please tell me you have the book The World of the Dark Crystal by Froud.

I bought it when the film first cam out, but it has been out of print for a long while. Now, as you see, they have re-issued it.

Willow was filmed in New Zealand, but I am not a fan of it. My favourite of this type of film is Legend. It has Tom Cruise in it, which is a pity if you don’t like big stars, but he was very young, so you can pretend it isn’t him.

Also, if you like Jim Henson’s creature shop, they did a TV series in the late 80s called The Storyteller (bad link but just a quick search). They were stories based on fairy tales with conceptual design by Froud and were played by some very good actors. I think you can now get this on DVD.

bonecradle: NO, seems as if this is the only Froudian book I don’t have.

My “problem” with the Froudians: his wife is doing some puppet-work, and I don’t like it at all. Naturally Brian features the works of his wife best he can, and so you stumble over them dolls everywhere in wonderful Froudland ;). But for this book: bought! Thank you for mentioning it!!

Willow: it is a personal thing: our former drummer (now he’s playing bass) looks EXACTLY like Willow. Thrice the size maybe, but the face & hair - a blueprint.
Besides that: I like those brownies a lot, just like Willow’s town-mates. What I did not know is that the movie has been done in NZ, no wonder: where do you find THAT surrounding without some marks of civilization (no sarcasm!)!!

Legend: sometimes lately my memory fails me (commented by my lovvvverly wife   !!), but I think I have the video lying somewhere. Might be a good reason to refresh this grey mass of cells  !
