Errrrrr???

Hello all,

Really having a nightmare at the moment. Exported this .obj from maya 2011 and now my symmetry is all up the wall.

Exported it back into Maya and the symmetry (reflection settings tab in the move tool won’t pick up on the other side either)

Any help at all would be really great as this is part of a university project I am working on.

BTW: I have tried to delete the history and freeze transformation but, nothing, nada, zilch! Now also doing it with other geometry too.

Sounds like your base geometry is not lined up with the x-axis within Maya. Try holding X while moving the model in Maya and snapping it back to the grid line then exporting it again.

That’s the only thing I can think of. You usually use C4D, right? New to Maya?

Same problems here with a model I brouht with GoZ to C4D. Back in ZB symmetry was gone at some parts. No way to get it back. I used the smart symmetry option in ZB, tried in C4D to split the object, mirror it and bring it back into ZB. Nothing works :frowning:

Not new to Maya, been using it over two years now. Axis set at 0,0,0. It’s not that. Will keep hitting the keyboard until it works lol.

This might help.

it’s in English or French the languagee toggle is at the top right of the page.

Thank’s mate I’ll give that a go, but first, sleep! Cheers again

Is your local sym button on? I know that messes me up sometimes. Either that or there is something else on the layer your working with…maybe a flipped poly or something. That’s what I have encountered. Double check and make sure there isnt anything floating around the scene in Maya. It could even be vertex point thats messing it up and it might be impossible to see in zbrush.

Best.

I agree with AVBN5000 here, usually when that happens (and youre sure your model is centered) there is a point somewhere in your scene that needs to be deleted.

Remember zbrush tries to fit everything on the screen in the viewport, Id say there is a point off to the right there (could be a Null or something else too, though I havent used maya in a while and I dont know if those cause this too)
