Error while trying to texture and uv map subtools

This error message appears while trying to create uvws, texture and displacement maps. The entire process crashes several times using Zbrush 3.5 r3. This is a simple group of multiple tools that make up a female dress.

I had ZBrush 3.5 r3 installed for a few days when I received basically the same error message:
INTERNAL ERROR.\AFile.cpp Line 728. /Create a File C:\PROGRAM FILES (X86)\PIXOLOGIC\ZBRUSH 3.5 r3/ZStartup\Tempfiles/search.mem

It didn’t crash ZBrush. Rather, it would not let me open ZBrush. I used System Restore (Win 7 64-bit) to restore back a day or two, and I was able to open the program. However, sometimes the cursor blinks. For example, if I go to Documents>Back and use the color picker, the cursor will flicker. Sometimes, infrequently, I’ll get a “Program has stopped working” message from Windows. I’m doing simple learning exercises, and I have my compact memory set to 1024 (4GB on the system, Core i7 820 processor). It acts like a memory problem; but I don’t see how it would be.

I don’t know if that contributes anything to the discussion, but it’s information.
