Eric Artman's Sculptbook

Can you post a side view? bringing in the bottom of the ribs a bit could emphasize the width of the hips. They could be widened a lot. Not just for my own personal satisfaction but also to give more of a maternal feel. Which i always think of with female angels.

Sure thing DAnconia, here’s a side view. Please keep in mind that I’ve sadly neglected to give her gluteus maximus the attention it deserves  .

Maternal feel eh? Yea, I see what you’re getting at. You want me to give her larger breast  .

I’m very pleased to have just finished completely redesigning my website/online portfolio.

What relevance does this have to ZBrushCentral.com you ask? Well, for a while I've enjoyed creating immersive website designs for myself and others using 3D applications, but I've never had more of a blast than when doing it with ZBrush. I was able to quickly try out all sorts of colors and textures and materials. I've uploaded a few screenshots of the site below. I've also documented some of the work that went into creating this site under the Visual Effects section @ [www.EricArtman.com](http://www.EricArtman.com) Questions, comments and critiques are welcome as usual :). ![final_home_page_970.jpg|960x734](upload://kbAAi9Zj8xSy6C7N8Vo3vf52Mo.jpeg)

Nice site. Needs a next button when viewing the photos and images so you dont have to keep backing out and going to another section.

Then again, i feel pretty lazy right now

That is an excellent suggestion DAnconia. I agree that many people who visit internet forums are used to having optimal navigability (that actually is a word :)).

Rather then just adding a couple of buttons or text links, I’m going to whip up something special.

Thanks for checking out my site.

Excellent site Eric…

Is that “lord Foul” as in Thomas Covenant?

Now you’ve made me smile. Yes, that Lord Foul

I don’t think I’ve ever met anyone who has read The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant, much less heard of them. That’s so fantastic that you spotted Lord Foul on my site.

From what I’ve read on the net, it looks like a Chronicles of Thomas Covenant movie was released in 2006. I wonder if it was any good? I can’t find it on netflix.

I would like to see Peter Jackson direct a movie based on one of the Thomas Covenant novels. Of course, he’d be welcome to use my sculpture as the basis for Lord Foul in the movie

I first tried reading Stephen R. Donaldson’s books in early adolescence. I dug the cover art on the book, but the subject matter was way over my head  . Later, I read through the whole series when I was in my late teens. I suppose the story of the outcast struck much more of a cord with me at that time in my life.

Thanks for the compliments and thanks for spotting Lord Foul.

we should try sculpting a whole “covenant” beastiary…everything from urviles through to Giants. You up for it?

You’re totally right about the need for a “next” button on my site.

Here are the elements I came up with in Maya and ZBrush for next and back buttons -

These guys (much smaller versions) have been added to my site.

The site’s definitely easier to navigate now.

Thanks for the suggestion DAnconia :).

This certainly is an interesting proposition. To tell you the truth, it’s been so long since I read The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant that I’ve forgotten many of the characters and creatures.

Of course, one that really stands out in my mind is Vain.

Last night I was thinking about reading the first in the series again. I’ll have to find a copy first. If it piques my interest again like it did years ago, I just might take you up on your offer.

Glad i could help you out. If you get a chance, could you check out my thread. i need some help on my sculpts.

I think this “Gas Wolf” creation is a nice contrast to the angel sculpt I created a little while back.

This creation is very much inspired by the incredibly imaginative and electric performances of the band Skinny Puppy.

For a while I've been imagining the type of mask or costume I'd design for a Skinny Puppy performance if given the chance. So, I came up with this Gas Wolf mask.

All the anatomy/muscularity of the figure that's posed in this work was also sculpted from scratch in ZBrush, which is the part of this sculpt that took the most time.

I wanted to give his muscularity the look of only what I can describe as tenuously brutal :)

Awesome, I totally see the Skinny Puppy in this.
I love SP, I was listening to “Warlock” ," Assimilate" and “Smothered Hope” about 15 minutes ago.

Hey, a fellow Puppy fan on ZBrushCentral.com

Very cool. I knew there had to be. SP has inspired so many artists over the years with their sounds and performances.

I really like your hairless rat, giraffe and Garindan. Your sculpts flow very nicely. Your Garindan actually looks a bit like the costume that Ogre wore during the TGWOTR SP tour. Damn, that was a dramatic costume.

The base mesh looks like the one posted here by undoz a while ago.

I love your webby, looks great and your models are awsome…

Yes, that’s the base mesh I used for the figure. Thanks silvaticus.

And thanks DELTATHUNDER3R. It’s nice to hear that you like my website. I appreciate the compliment

Your Skinny Puppy influenced Gas Wolf is looking very Skinny Puppish  Great model and the mask is a bit evil lookin, bet Nivek would “Dig it”

And yep…a favourite band of mine too…

Thanks for the compliments, Eonsuu. They encourage me to create a whole costume

I dig you dig it comment too

William Morrison really liked one of my earlier SP inspired creations. He said he was going to make sure Nivek saw it. So, after I’ve fully textured, painted and created a complete costume for this guy I’ll get in contact with them again.

Thanks again

New direction. He’s going to be the urban shaman
