hey there girls and boys. I havn’t posted on this site for a long time but i have been trying to pop in from time to time and when i do I am constantly blown away by the art that is being produced here, esp the variation in themes, though it is a little sad to se the downturn in painting, not as much as there used to be, which is a shame caus i have always found zb really fun to paint with, anywho this project is quite early on but i thought that i’d start positing now otherwise i’ll forget later on. Doing some stuff for friends that are in a band, they wanted some characters for each of them for art in thier album. Loads of fun because there is no rigid rules they have set, so i get free reign, which is why the head is straying from the concepts, probably have to pull it back inline abit yay. this is the first character concepts sketches done with markers and zb, the head was sculpted in zb and thrown into xsi for rendering(nothing against zb here, just wanted to se if my fancy pants new graphics card gould handle some high res ab meshes in real time,)

just a quick update did some sculpting of the body, rough mesh in xsi, sculpt in zb, was originally going to sculpt in seperate pieces, casu i wanted millions of polys on each peace, but i’m getting the results i want from about a tenth of that so the next step for me is to glue all the bits together, also did a very quick makeup test with the colourise brush in zb, took less than a couple of mins, worked well

ok been a while since i posted an update, its amazing how months just fly by and you realise you havn’t worked on a project in weeks, anywho had a bit of spare time so i finished off the modelling for this fellah, put in a leDiscot build for all the vetrans. Never building a character in full pose again, i know its good practice and all but it caused a whole heap of nightmares, i basically had to restart half way throug because it was too much of a mess, it did make me think alot about the anatomy and forced me to really think about the weight of the pose( which was hard cause the character will be floating when done)

Really nice work on the cloth wrinkles.
just a small update, moving house at the moment so no time to work. all textures were done mostly in zb, still don’t know how to light in soft image yet or use the render tree, but i gotta say, zb works very well with soft image, much less painfull that other programs i’ve used

I wasnt diggin the head so much in the beginning, but you pulled this together nicely! Keep it goin bro.
Wow! What a pose!! This is getting more interesting with each post. (not my post offcourse )
put in a leDiscot build
:qu:
Cool angel
stimpac: wasn’t diggin it either, the one on the body was pretty much a rebuild, i couldn’t get shrinkwrap to work in xsi, major letdown
plakkie, thanks
pilou: way back yonder, a man by the name of oliver lediscot used to post here, his work was amazing and he used to post really good step by step pictures that showed how he worked really well, anywho it was a great help to me when i was learning zb, trying to figure out how to go from a sphere to a full blown character, so i try to do the same thing, and named the style of picture after him. dunno maybe it might help a newbie.
