These are so sexy.
anatomy looks so real. Let one want to touch
thanks. one more. almost finished with this chick.
Recognized the Frazetta influence immediately. Your sculpts are an excellent tribute to one of the greats!
Excellent sculpts here
Marvelous. perfect! Love so Much Frazetta. You caught his style so well
Whoa thanks guys. Crazy to see that top row. It’s been almost exactly 6 years since I joined this site and started digital modeling. It’s been the most challenging artistic experience of my life. When I picked up zBrush the first time, I had just been laid off from my full time sculpting gig at McFarlane toys and I could no longer deny that rapid prototyping was the future of my industry. After being a traditional sculptor for 6 years, this was a daunting and frustrating hurdle. It was really a battle for me. I certainly did not catch on to zbrush as fast as other people. My mind simply would not cooperate. But after about two years of struggling I made enough progress to get back in the ring professionally. I remember getting on ZBC and totally fawning over those top row spots thinking I’d never be good enough, but wow. There it is. Thanks for all the encouragement guys I can tell you honestly it’s all about simply putting in the hours. And also… this chick is done.

Love it dude! So good!
Beautiful sculpt and well deserved top row bro.
Congrats!
She is so beautiful, a giant gorilla would be a fool to not pick her up
All of these are outstanding.
How did you approach the snakes for the Medusa you posted on page 7?
I modeled two different snakes and maintained my subdivisions. Then using mask and transpose, I posed each snake one by one, Duplicating wherever I could and tweaked them a little using the move brush. It was a long tedious process. But it was one of those things Where I could find no shortcut.
Thanks for the quick reply.
How did you do the scales? Did you consider making an insert multi mesh curve brush, like the one here: http://www.badking.com.au/site/shop/miscellaneous-custom-brushes/snake-brush-setby-tetsuo-oshima/ ?
I ask because I’m always interested in seeing how people approach clean scale detail. Thanks, again, and great work!
Great pieces, keep it up!
Hello Ehren Congrats!
I modeled a low poly cylinder with really evenly distributed quads. I subdivided six times and then I used ‘noise plug’ in the surface menu. I tweaked the settings using the built in snakeskin alpha and then applied slight variations of this multiple times to create the depth and detail that I wanted. I tried a few things similar to what you mentioned but I couldn’t get it to work within my parameters. The medusa is going to be printed so I had to think really carefully about how posing and then processing the parts would effect the detail…
Eventually I’m going to try and put together a tutorial that walks you through the necessary steps to take your zbrush model from a high poly sculpt to an .stl file that is print ready. I can explain the measuring tools within zbrush (yes they actually work) I can show how to decimate in stages to avoid losing detail. I can also explain in detail how to use the Boolean functions in zbrush to cut and key parts in combination with dynamesh. I would also walk you through the NetFabb program (because its free) and explain how to get the part ready to load on the print bed. I run a Stratasys Eden printer every day at work I don’t have any fancy 6000$ program to get my files ready. It’s super simple once you run through the process a few times. If I get enough interest in this I’ll get something together. I have yet to see a really in depth explanation of this for the public.
Thanks for the post. A ton of great ideas, I have never thought about.
Hey Ehren,
Great work, man! In regards to the tutorial you mention above, you should put something together in depth and put it on Gumroad. Sell it for something reasonable and I guarantee you’ll get a ton of downloads and therefore some money for your time. I would buy it for sure!
well deserved top row, ehren… your sculpts are really beautifully done.
though i have never tried to actually getting anything printet (yet), i’d be more than happy to hear/see your thoughts and process on getting a model ready for the printer.
looking forward to see more from you.
