Editing TPose .obj Mesh in another program possible?

I’ve been experimenting with something in Transpose Master. I’ve been modifying the TPose Mesh that I save out as an .obj and trying to edit the verts in another program (3ds max). Then hoping I can load the new TPose back in.

I’ve actually been having some success with this if the subtool is one singular mesh, but one of my subtools has many polygroups (max elements) and this is the only one that doesn’t change when I load the .obj back in.

Is there any way to get this working? It’s unfortunate because the non-working subtool with tons of polygroups that I really want is the one with belts, buckles, bolts, chain links, etc. They sort of need some special attention because some of the groups in this subtool are deformed and warped looking.

This should work only if you don’t change the polygroups Transpose Master creates for the TPose mesh. These correspond to the original subtools and are the only way the pose can be transferred back in. For the same reason vertex number and order should not be changed.

hmm…so multiple max elements / polygroups within one sub tool shouldn’t be a problem you say?

Maybe there is something wrong with the mesh. I did notice when I imported into max the obj statistics say “Identical Points in Face = 12”… Although I’m not sure how to correct that.

When I group split the polygroups in the subtool into 90 subtools, then I notice transpose master has a problem converting back from a TPose mesh into its’ existing Sub-T’s without me even bothering with my max test. It says “one or more of your subtools has changed, continue anyway?” I did not change a thing.
