When I open an alpha grabbed out of zbrush in photoshop and edit it, resave and bring it back in to displace it doesn’t seem to bring anything in when i import it(saved as 16 bit) i can save as 8bit and import but then its all stepped when displaced.
Is there a way to save the alpha info properly?
You mentioned that it’s 16-bit. That’s good. Is it also Grayscale (which it should be)? Or is it RGB or something else?

If your alpha is 16 bit and is larger than 512 x 512, before you import it into ZBrush, go to Preferences > Performance and set ‘PreLoad File Size’ slider to maximum.
