Edit Topolgy: polygroups and visibility of the mesh

Hello,

when using mesh edit to reto or change some mesh-errors, i have the following problems:

  1. After changing some little errors of a mesh with ZSphere-Method (Rigging…) , I can make a new mesh with Adaptive Skin, but I loose all my polygroups in the new mesh. Is there a possibility, to get them back to the new Mesh?

  2. Creating a new mesh with appended zsperes and “edit topolgy”, i have viewing-problems, because I always see the complete mesh also with the mesh-parts of the backside of the model. Is it possible to only show a part of the mesh and hide the backside?

TIA

Question 1.
nope. have to remake them. You can try to generate a map from polygroups, and transfer that map, then generate polygroups from color…but it never works out.

Question 2.
Which version of Z are you using?

Thanks for your answer: I use 4.5, but I think I have resolved the problem: I always appended a zshere and then I used “select topo” of my cloned subtool. But now I have seen that it also works with the visible subtool that should be edited in the same subtools-Palette without “select topo”. Then the problem of seeing the backside-mesh is resolved. To your first answer: I already tried to polypaint my polygroups with different colors, then after creating the new mesh I used the function “project all”, clicked on yes when asked if i want to project the polypaint-informations. But the colors were not clearly projected, so I had no effort with this way. It would be a good improvement for one of the next builts of zbrush to include the possibility to reproject the polygroups.
