Edit mode disabled

I’m learning ZBrush by following the beginner video tutorials. Every once in a while, I can’t get into edit mode. It’s grayed out. Exiting and restarting ZBrush solves the issue.

Why is edit mode becoming disabled, and how can I get it active again without restarting the application?

There’s a bug in the new version that sometimes causes it. If it happens again, just try switching to another 3D tool and back again.
