Edge-Loops and Subdivisions!

Hey guys!

I have a little problem with the subdivisions-operation.
I made an edge loop on level 1 and i can jump over to level 2 but if i go higher the mesh (Polys)
in the are of the edge loop, is defect. Is there another way to add edge-loops inside of ZBrush. The version i used is 4R3!

Thanks a lot!

There is another User with the same Problem: LINK

are you freezing your subD levels?
what happens if you remove all polygroups before subD?
can you try a tool.deformations.unify function?

I cannot freeze my subdis…there are so many datails up to level 5…if i freeze the subdis on level one all these information are deleted. So i sculpted and sculpted up to a high polycount and now i need an extra edge loop…thats nothing fancy, right?

Freezing shouldn’t delete any subdivision levels. What it will do is temporarily lock them while dropping you down to the lowest level.

Try going to the highest subdivision level, click Freeze Subdivision Levels, make whatever changes you want (add the edgeloops), then click Freeze Subdivision Levels again to restore all the previous levels of detail.

That ^
You also didn’t answer any of my questions.

Make sure you don’t have any masking on your mesh as well. This probably isn’t the problem, but it happens often enough that it’s probably worth mentioning. You know, just in case.

PS: Freezing subd levels should automatically drop you down to your lowest subd level, not delete any. Turning freeze off automatically jumps back to the higher level and will also mask areas you didn’t alter while at the lowest level. Make sure you unmask at that point. One problem with freezing is that it often creates artifacts along the borders of altered/unaltered areas. I try to avoid using it if I can.

Hey Guys,

yeah this is working! Thank you!
