Why is my Edge loop grayed out ?

This is a known issue. Append a SubTool to the model. Any SubTool. You can hide it if you want.

And please: Don’t ask for me specifically to answer. ZBC is not “Ask Aurick”. Yes, I answer a lot of questions. But I’m not the only person with the answers. Far from it!

I’m not able to reproduce this. What steps did you take to get to the point where this problem arose? List the steps and I’ll see if I can reproduce it.

This is a Mac OSX issue.

I find that the needed subtool must be visible for the EdgeLoop option to be available.
