Hi there.
After much messing and fiddling around with zBrush, I feel like I’m at that point that everyone gets to where they feel like that having something worth showing. To be honest, this is supposed to be Ed Harris, I don’t think I’m too close to his likeness, but I guess I need to keep working on that. I’m going back a few revisions before I started adding wrinkles and stuff to work on the forms more (I skipped to this because I haven’t really had a model that I’ve been happy enough to do that in the first place so wanted a bit of practice) and also skipped ahead to do a render test (just photoshop and zbrush). Quite surprised how versatile a few render layers can be, it’s been a great tool for hiding the terrible and unfinished ears! (with bokeh) Also totally faked the eyes, the keylights are just white blobs plopped on, hope he doesn’t look boz-eyed
I just randomly decided to do Ed Haris, didn’t spend ages on research, just google images as I went along.
So as it turned out, I was unwittingly using one of Ekaterina Pushkarova’s sculpts as a reference partially, when I realised that it was a render, I couldn’t believe it. Certainly nothing like that but I think it’s going OK. I think the cheek folds need work and Ed seems to have (to me at least) this very oval shape going from his eyebrows to his chin that I’m finding hard to capture. In fact, I’m finding it quite difficult to see the underlying basic forms as there’s so much wrinkle over it! I looked at younger pics to help but he looks like a totally different person, to me at least, maybe that’s just my perception though.
All feedback welcome, I want to improve and please, remember that I am aware that moving on to finer details isn’t something you should generally do, the fundamental forms definitely need work, this was just a “fast forward” to have a play around with detailing and I will be reverting back to working on basic forms again.
Thanks all!
