Hey everyone, I’m confused on dynamesh workflow. Without dynamesh, I try to keep my mesh as low poly as possible until I need to step up subdivisions. With dynamesh, the default resolution is too high, so I drop it to 8 when I start something. But when I re-dynamesh at the same resolution or, say I go from 8 to 46, it destroys any form I have. I would just redynamesh at 256 res, but I’m not that great, and my work tends to get lumpy. Is there a way to work well with dynamesh at a lower subdivision? In the tutorial videos I watch, it looks like they don’t mind sculpting their base mesh at 256 res, but they much more experienced. Any tips would help. Thanks!
Have you tried enabling the ReProjected DynaMesh button (to the right of the DynaMesh button)? I’ve found getting something I’m happy with usually takes several attempts using different settings. Once you zero in on the right one, everything tends to fall neatly into place. Remember that DynaMesh isn’t for sculpting high resolution details either. Even though it can do a fairly good job of retaining them with the right settings, it was meant for creating a low to medium resolution base mesh that you further define using traditional methods outside of DynaMesh.
