Dynamesh resolution

Hello, I’m trying to turn a normal mesh into a dynamesh but the resolution is clearly insufficient (even at 1024). So I was wondering: I read somewhere that the way to circumvent this limitation was to scale the model way up (around 1000) and then dynamesh it.

But I’m not sure I understand correctly. Would that really fix the problem? If so, why? and does the scaling have to done with the Scale tool (which could take ages and not be precise at all)? Or should I use the Size slider in the Deformations palette?

I’m a bit lost here…

Look at the Preview tab in Tool menu. i bet the tool is really small there.

You can scale it to make it fit better in the preview window, or in deformation pallet hit unify for a quick fix.

If your importing this from a outside 3d program it can be tricky to get it to the right size.

Thank you. Yes, there was definitely something wrong with the size (it was actually very big). Still, after I unified it the result of dynamesh at max resolution was still the same. I guess it is just not possible to get a contiguous dynamesh model of a whole humanoid body and expect to be able to get some decent definition in the face (I’m not even talking of micro details).

I understand the only way to get that would be to split the sculpt in several subtools and then dynamesh them again; then they would be able to reach a better resolution.

Which leads me to ask: why was the limit put at 1024? Would 2048 be really unthinkable?
