Dynamesh Resolution. Answered.

I notice that moving the Dynamesh resolution slider has no effect until you do some kind of edit that
‘requires’ additional resolution, then remesh.

The problem is, details of your stroke (or whatever) have already been lost at that point.

Is there a way to force DynaMesh to the full resolution on the slider BEFORE you edit?

Dynamesh wont update unless there’s something to update…verticies have changed position, or you’ve changed a setting in the Dynamesh panel that requires an update, like blur.

You shouldn’t lose any detail, because if there were detail to update, it would. Just remesh and Undo until you get the rez you want.

If I’m misunderstanding you, forgive me.

[edit] If you need more resolution and don’t want to remesh for some reason, you can always subdivide the mesh, and delete lower rez. Just keep in mind there’s an upper limit to how much detail dynamesh will hold. It’s for low to medium resolution meshes, generally.

OK. Thanks Spyndel. I missed that you could subdivide a Dynamesh. I was assuming that
resolution was only under the control of the remesh operation.

That gets me around the problem. I can divide down, edit, then remesh.

Thanks.

Ross.

Thanks Spyndel:)
