DynaMesh NOT updating without clicking the button

hello all. as I watch the movies posted I notice that Dynamesh works in real-time, remeshing the mesh as you sculpt. I however can not seem to get it to work. when I load the dynamesh sphere and begin to work on it it deforms just like old zbrush. with no remeshing. The only way a remesh works is if, I click the dynamesh button…but this seems to defeat the purpose for me. As I can not get any real-time updates. Thanks.

its not real time… u have to hold cntrl like u were clearning a mask and drag it anywhere blank on cabas… it will remesh the model at that point

really??? from the looks of the videos it all looks real time…

what you said did work if I click and drag like i’m clearing a mask it does update, so I guess you just have to do it all in steps then?

It does not update in real-time. You can however hold ctrl and left click + drag and let go on the canvas and it will remesh. The idea is that with dynamesh you can push your geometry to the point of stretching and with a simple gesture you can rebuild your mesh with no stretching, allowing you to push your sculpt further without needing to manually add in loops/extrusions.

While it is not real-time like sculptris there are some major benefits to the way dynamesh handles mesh updating. The two major ones are that dynamesh maintains a relatively stable amount of polygons and you can merge/cut multiple meshes into/out of one seamlessly in no time at all. The downsides to dynamesh is that it is not real-time and that you lose some of your detail each time you remesh(but this can be anticipated and you can over exaggerate your strokes to maintain detail after remeshing).

yeah, this surprised me too but it does not update in real time ala sculptris, even though that’s what it looked like from the sped up scuplting preview videos.

not a bug. and if you read the what’s new pdf, they tell you straight out. it is MANUAL.
