Dynamesh issue

Ok guys so I got a low poly character with all quads around 1500 poly. Now I know how to use Dynamesh but for some reason everytime I dynamesh a low poly character made in maya or max when I use dynamesh even with the slider at its lowest it remeshes to like 2.4 million polys. I have tried numerous settings curious to know how to fix it.

Your mesh is probably scaled way too big in ZBrush after you import it. Ideally, it should just fit in the ‘Tool > Preview’ window or a little bit larger. Try clicking ‘Unify’ in the ‘Tool > Deformation’ subpalette and see if that fixes it.

Much Thanx. That was exactly it, I had my model scaled for UDK so in zbrush its way too big. Thanks again man and you rock! ! ! !

What if it’s too small in the preview window? Like only filling a quarter of it?

If it’s too small, then you won’t get a very high Dynamesh resolution.

An example:

Default Sphere @ 128res = 43368 points
Default Sphere sized 200 (larger) @ 128 res = 689629 points
Default Sphere sized -200 (smaller) @ 128 res = 2816 points
