DynaMesh is driving me crazy

Ok, Dynamesh is great, it really is.
Unfortunately, I’m having an issue that, no matter how hard I try to solve it, it’s driving me crazy.
So, I imported a model from Maya, converted into DynaMesh as usual, sculpted it a bit, than subdivide it, increased the resolution slider of the DynaMesh up to 512 to retain more detail, etc. Everything worked fine so far.
Than, I decided to import a set of hands and feet from another model, converted them to the highest level of DynaMesh (which is 1024) and then I wanted to merge them into my model and fuse them together into a beautiful 1024 DynaMesh model.
Problem is, for some reason, now DynaMesh refuses to create an hipoly mesh! No matter the resolution of the slider, no matter the scale of the model, it just reshape itself into a medium-res mesh, loosing all the details.

  • I tried increasing the scale of the model, 100 time, 1000 times, even 10000 times, but I get the SAME exact medium-res mesh.
  • I tried cloning the object. No luck.
  • I tried exporting the object into OBJ, then re-import it. No luck.
  • I tried using the Unify button in the Deformation menu. No luck.

Dynamesh just doesn’t want to generate a hi-res model. The maximum number of polygon I got is about 480.000, which is nothing considering that the previous DynaMesh model was around 3 million polygons…

This is driving me crazy, please somebody help!

Have you tried this script?

http://www.zbrushcentral.com/showthread.php?164728-Clean-Tool-Master-(with-Dynamesh-Project)-unofficial-Information-Installation&p=915902&viewfull=1#post915902

Thanks for the suggestion, I tried the plugin but I’m having the same issue. The resulting DynaMesh doesn’t go over 500.000 polys…
I tried with another model, and the SAME thing happens. It seems like zBrush does not allow hi-res mesh for DynaMesh, and the scale doesn’t matter. I’m using zBrush 4R2b, did they change how DynaMesh work? Does anybody else have the same issue?

Bro im having the same problem and so far no solution for it. it certainly does drive you crazy. even worse that i cant find an answer anywhere! its not something that happens in every project. mostly for me after merging different subtools and then runnning dynamesh. also my dynamesh is stuck at roughly 500k polys and just wont go up from there…
Please answer anyone?!?!

I have encountered this also; trying all the tips suggested here and in similar threads does nothing.

I cannot help but suspect that this is some bug within the workings of the program itself. If so, is it possible to get some reassurance that this problem is being worked on? Or else get an official explanation of this problem and a workaround to fix it? I really cannot figure out how to make this model of mine usable again. :c
