Dynamesh always fills all holes for some reason...

Hey all. When using dynamesh it keeps filling any holes. I have a pair of pants that I want to create a hole in the knee. I’m trying to use the insert brush in a subtract method (holding down alt and then double dragging) but whenever I dynamesh it fills all holes. I don’t recall it ever doing this before and I didn’t select any options to do this. Normally you have to select the “close holes” button to get this effect. Not sure what is going on.

dynamesh has always created a closed mesh.

Thanks, I should have posted that I eventually figured this out. I didn’t realize that all of the objs I imported in the past were ones where I had extracted all of the faces so there weren’t any holes. This gave the pants and shirts the thickness I had wanted. When I went to dynamesh an obj where I hadn’t done that procedure ahead of time it threw me for a loop.
