duplicating

i’m trying to make a metal tentacle. i want consecutive cylinders in a row all spaced evenly apart. is there a way to do this without having to duplicate each cylinder and then eyeballing the correct distance between each one?

The simplest way is to create a Tri Parts insert mesh brush. Just line up three cylinders and make sure they are three separate polygroups (all one subtool). You can then use the Create InsertMesh button in the Brush palette to create the brush. Here’s more info:

You can also use the Curve Modifiers>Size option to have the cylinders gradually get smaller.
