Duplicating layers

Hi! Here I am with a stupid question, I tried all evening to solve it but… :frowning:
I have 3 layers in my present project: the basic figure layer, the eyes layer and a teeth layer.
I wanted to duplicate this last layer in order to move it and form a series of tooth, and I thought I could move layers into place like I do in Photoshop, but…no way.
So my stupid question is: shall I create each teeth separately (ouch) or is there a way to displace layers just like I do in Photoshop?
It may be a silly question, but it’s driving me nuts…
Thanks

In the layers modifiers, you will find that there are values for X, Y and Z. Using this, you can move a layer around simply by entering new values (for the Z, positive values move the layer away, and negative bring it toward you).

Creating each tooth separately, though, is by far the better approach. There’s a trick to it!

Create your basic tooth and move it into position using the gyro. Then, while you still have it selected, click on the little camera icon in the Transform palette. This creates a copy of the tooth where you currently have it positioned, but leaves it still in Edit mode. Now you can quickly drag it to the next position, rotate or scale a bit if you want, and snapshot it again. Move–Snapshot–Move–Snapshot–Move until you’re done.

If you really want to get sophisticated, you can even drop a marker for each tooth before you snapshot it. When you have the whole set of markers, clear the layer and use the MultipleMarker tool to bring them all back as one group. Then you can click the Tool>Modifiers>Make Polymesh button to create a tool from the entire set of teeth.

Dentures, anyone?

Hi Maga,
