Draw Size 1 Feature.

I’m fairly new to zbrush and this is my first post. Loving it so far!

I have found a handy feature with the “Draw Size”. I don’t know if everyone knows this or not, but I cant find any posts mentioning it. If you set the “Draw Size” of a brush to 1 and click down to use it it will apply the effect to the whole surface and not just the area under the brush. Try it with the smooth brush!

If you decide to click down and drag the brush in any direction it will change the strength of the effect as you drag!
To test this use the smooth or inflate brush on an object.
It also respects masks!

So hopefully I’ve helped someone with this tip!

Also, how can I use an avatar?

Cheers.

What version of Zbrush are you using? I’ve tried this and it doesn’t work. You might have changed a brush setting somewhere.

Sorry mate, you seem to need the “mask by polygroups” slider at 100 (which is in the “auto masking pallet” - in the brush settings).

Let me know how you go!

This is really handy for people to know so I want to get it out there!

I’m using zBrush4r5.

Nope. Still can’t get it work that way.

Just tried it with some different brushes.
Cool!!

Check out “noise”
Slide gives you an alternative to move option. With symmetry on limited to one axis, otherwise limited to view angle and XY.

Flatten, Polish etc. gives an other “clip” Option.

Smooth -> fun.

Sometimes with different brushes very unexpected things happening. Nice reliefs and often total chaos

Worth to play with!

Thanks for the hint.

I’m glad you could get it to work Knacki!
Remember you can use the mask too!

MentalFrog, remember to crank the zintensity of the brushes as some are very subtle. Also use a test object with a fairly low res to start with, like a cylinder with a few thousand polys.
Try grabbing the inflate brush and make sure the Zintensity is maxed. With “mask by pollygroups” slid to 100, click down and drag the brush over the object. You should (hopefully) see a change in the size of the object.

Let me know if that doesn’t work mate as I want you to know!

Cheers
