Dragon Wars - character sculpts

Hi All on Zbrush Central.

Here are some of our Character sculpts for Dragon Wars : Fire and Fury
A documentary airing on National Geographic US on Sunday 9th December at 8pm.

We used the Zbrush for all of the principle sculpting with the production models created in 3ds max and Maya.

All together we created 3 unique dragons and 4 Hero characters. Below are selection of screenshots from the show.

The show explores the origins of the North European Dragon Myth with dramatic animated sequences that tell the stories based upon the belief systems of the era.

I will upload turntables, more images and details about the project soon.

Thank you.

Great work, thanks for posting. love to see some wireframes.

Wicked stuff!

Excellent work. :+1:

Here are some of the Main Character production models. Most of the Design and costume research was done by the show originator Steve Maher.

Due to the factual basis of the content we had to thoroughly research the costumes and weaponry that could have been feasible for the era in which the legends originated. Note the Sutton Hoo helmet that Beowulf is wearing and also the fact that this character is overweight and out of shape. In the original poem we are told that Beowulf is an old man and the encounter with the Dragon is his last battle.
