Dragon Oni Bust - 3D Print

Hi.
I’d like to share my recent Zbrush sculpt and 3D Print work.
I’ve posted a blog over on Artstation about the process including some handy print settings etc.

Paul, Great job! Thanks for posting a link to your blog. Really useful links. Quick question: why combine with Re mesh by union instead of dynamesh? I am new to 3d printing and wondered if this was specific to something to be printed.

Thank you EarthMonkey.

I find the benefit of using Re mesh in combination with decimation allows you to retain a lot of detail at a lower poly count, this will also help when exporting to your slicer package. Remeshing will also do a great job with overhangs and sharp angles etc and usually leave you with a good watertight mesh, Some clean up might still be needed but usually I can catch any errors by auto grouping, select part of the mesh (shift+ctrl+A) to invert selection then delete hidden. Close holes and run mesh fix. If this fails Autodesk’s Mesh mixer is a great free tool that will show you any further problems and attempt to fix them. Of course it’s still possible to use dynamesh and then decimate but I find the process can be much slower and less accurate unless you crank up the detail. Keeping your workflow fast is the best way to stay motivated

Thanks Paul!

I really had fun with this one. Zbrush is a fantastic tool!

Thanks Fiouze!

Thank you for the great tip and answering my question! It is much faster…always a plus. I tried it using Mesh mixer. Now I will try and see how the results are with Preform. You are a wealth of knowledge . Thanks again :grinning:
