am sure this is a dumb one, but am applying an alpha and need to be able to position this accurately, so is there a key combo that will let me move the drag rectangle on the viewport after click dragging it?

You could use MaskRect and Spacebar to bring it in position.
ah yes that could work, so there is no other way of doing this w out a mask?
