Drag Rect + Alpha deforming mesh?

Hey, when I use the drag rect + alpha method to add detail to a surface it currently deforms the mesh. Is there any way to use this method but only affect the surface and not the entire sculpt? Maybe I need to mask everything apart from that area?

Also, when I use projection master to try and achieve the same result my mesh inflates and deforms when it is dropped back to canvas :frowning:

I’m not sure exactly why you are having problems - some pictures would help - but yes, masking is useful to stop parts of the mesh being affected by sculpting operations.

I’ve never seen anything like that before. You shouldn’t need to mask out the rest of the mesh when using DragRect, and you shouldn’t get distortion in Projection Master. Which version of ZBrush are you using? And how big or small is your model when you check the size in the Tool>Preview window?
