Does HD Geometry Work Only With SubTools?

Does HD Geometry Work Only With SubTools?
TIA

well, only with tools. subtools are just tools categorized, or grouped with a main tool. since there’s really nothing besides a tool that you can sculpt on in zbrush, well…what else are you trying to apply it to?

It will only work with polymesh objects. Other object types, such as primitives, must be converted to polymesh before you can use HD.

Thanks

I tried both primative and polymesh and the wiki says use a hot key but does not say which one anyways I can’t get the circle to appear when I courser over it.

Question: If you save a HD polymesh as a ztool does all the info saves with it so that when you load the tool it’s where you left off?

Also, I understand that HD is not transportable to other software apps but can you use HD within zbrush 3.1 and save a document and print it and it will have the detail that you see when working on the canvas?
TIA

A is the hotkey to activate the HD preview. You must first give the model some HD subdivision levels, though.

Your other questions: Yes. I do recommend using SubTool Master’s Save button, though, rather than ZBrush’s Tool>Save As

Thanks aurick

One more ouestion with 1.5 gigs of cpu pc xp home 32bit how many times should I didvide HD Geomert (hd is at 96.4 gigs free space)
And can you use Projection Master, Stecils - I guess I’m asking what are the tools that you can not use with HD Geometry.
TIA

CPU doesn’t determine maximum polygon count. RAM does. For most systems you can have up to 1 billion HD polygons. However, the more HD levels you have, the smaller the area that will be displayed when you activate the preview. The reason for this is that the area within the preview is determined by how many real polygons your computer can actually handle in real-time. The more HD levels you have, the more dense the polygons are, and so the smaller the surface will be that ZBrush can interact with in real-time.

As for your other questions, PM and stencils both work with HD geometry.
