I know someone told me to wait for the release, but I really need to know. Aurick, do you know anything about that?
Do you really expect Aurick to tell you ?
You’ll have to wait like the rest of us.
Richard
None of the beta testers can say anything about ZBrush 4. Please don’t ask them to break NDA.
None of Pixologic’s staff can say anything that hasn’t already been stated in an official announcement.
So the bottom line is that nobody can answer your question at this point in time. I’m not sure when the system requirements for Z4 will be made public, but if past releases are any indication it won’t happen until right at launch.
i can make a pretty good guess
Alright no problem. I was just asking cause I’m getting a new PC for my birthday. My current PC is way too old and not good for Zbrush.
My uncle is buying it but he’s leaving on sunday, I told him to just leave me the money but he didn’t want to. I’m ordering it at newegg.com so I can get build it myself for cheaper. I don’t play games on PC (mostly consoles) and the most system demanding thing will be Zbrush, well when I do buy it. So that’s why I was thinking if I should put in a good vid card or add more ram. Well I want to play StarCraft II but maybe in the future I could a better a vid card, when I do get the money.
I understand you are not giving out any info on this, I won’t ask anymore. <img src=“http://www.zbrushcentral.com/upload/atn.gif”>
Id say go for the ram im pretty sure it will go 64 bit.
Ifnot you still have lots of other programms that use it:)
For Z3 the recommended should be what? like 6 gigs? I know right now Zbrush uses up to 4 right? So 2 for other softwares/background processes and at least 4 dedicated to zbrush.
How about this.
Mudbox (as far as I see it) is Zbrush’s direct compitition. Pixologic will most likely one up Autodesk. So look at what the specs for mudbox are and plan accordingly.
Now remember this is just a shot in the dark here. I’m going to say the architecture will be very similar to z3. RAM first, then CPU, then GPU.
If you do use Zmapper make sure you get a card that supports openGL.
As much RAM as you can afford right now (min of 8gb if possible) and as fast as you can get it.
Also make sure your MB is going to be upgradeable. Shoot for a minimum of 32gb of RAM that the board can support, 64 would probably be better.
Ram is so cheap that you can just take $20-$40 a month and get an extra gig or 2.
Remember that every application you have open needs RAM. So photoshop, music player, 3d application, Zbrush, Internet browser, OS, Windows explorer (or whatever they call it on MAC) for reference files, any IM things you might use…etc. Even if Z4 has a RAM cap (I doubt it) There really isn’t a reason not to have the RAM. If you do anything with Video it will help a ton as well.
The GPU can be very important too…even if you’re not a gamer (PC). I don’t game on my PC at all but I still have a Quadro card in it. I do a ton of 3d stuff and I need a card that can handle 1gb of texture memory, etc. So make sure you take that into account when selecting the card.
CPU is pretty much up to you, remember you get what you pay for with CPU’s though. Try to get a MB that will let you add another CPU later if you find the money. duel quads is always nice
Hope all of this helps in some regard. Just remember that everything I said is me just guessing about what z4 will require, but everything I said is something that you should have regardless of z4.
Ok. Thanks a lot. I’ll get one that is very upgradable and in the future slowly upgrade it . I was planning on asking for Z3 and THEN getting a new PC. I can’t use Zbrush with my current PC, but I was thinking that it might go up in price after Z4 is released so I wanted to buy it now. But my PC is fried, so now I have to absolutely get a new PC and forget about Z for now. Perfect luck…
