Cool and funny idea. It would be perfect with some goosebumps.

Something I did some time ago but never published the progress here. Got good response on FB, so thought maybe someone here could use the breakdown as well. Cheers
Nice breakdown, thanks!
Is retopo easier in 3D coat than in Topogun?
Thank you guys! I think it’s a lot easier, and you can import pretty dense meshes (high polycount) in 3D coat, but I haven’ been checking out topogun for the last year or so, maybe they made progress.
Thanks for sharing! Love how you actually use a skull underneath
Thanks Santis! Yeah i tend to do that occasionally
Brilliant piece and thank you for the breakdown!
Hey SolidSnakexxx! No problem, thank you!
I have visited out new Neanderthal museum, and was so inspired by seeing all the development stages of the skulls that I had to build a new one. So far I’ve been building skulls based on 2d image references, or 3d sequences, but I tell you nothing had the same impact as seeing the real ones.
Here it is, dynamesh, about an hour.
Nice i really like it. did you render the skull in zbrush ?
Thanks! It’s a Keyshot render, marble material that I have adjusted a bit.
Studies continued. Just a note regarding publishing’s of late on ZBC, I really don’t dig the competition that’s going on with a lot of polished realistic works from people who I feel are more like 3D scanners in that regard, or works following a globally accepted trend of liking, so I have found an even more profound place in myself to pull this studies from and publish them here, and for the first time after quite a long time enjoying it Keep it real
P.S. and here’s a free asset I’ve created for Badking, if anyone’s interested, I’ve used that mouth interior for these models as well. The thought behind it was to create a single piece model of the mouth cavity which will have the cheek inner walls and lips, something that I haven’t found anywhere but thought I could make good use of. There’s also a two piece model of separate upper and lower jaw just in case.
thx you Cherub, and great work as usual. regarding Badking fantasti site can’t wait to see the MEGAMONSTER Brush completed!!!
Cool, are you doing all of these anatomical studies for yourself or is a a job? at any rate they are cool. Thanks for the teeth I could have used them on Schlitzie.
I don’t really understand want you were trying to say about publishing on ZBC of late. Are you saying that people are trying to pass off 3D scans as their sculptures or that they are posting work that looks so good it could be 3D scans?
Hey Cherub! Thanks for the teeth. Will download them and replace them with the old ones that I have stored. Will for sure come in handy when working on some character design later on. Cheers!
these are BADASS!!! it’s amazing how far you’ve come since you first started posting your work…i’m always impressed with your growth as an artist, and the quantity of work you do.
respect.
Thank you Lvxifer! I intended to make the teeth for the monster brush set initially but Vadim (BadKing) liked it so much that he wanted to have it as a separate feature.
Hello Rick! Thank you for your kind words! Well, I’m bored with a lot of people trying 100% realism in their works, feels to me as a loss of their own uniqueness, and seems as a competition with a computer (3d scanners in this particular case) which they’ll never win in any case. But again this notion of need for realism is not entirely artist’s own fault, but of the art galleries/forum leaders capitalistic views to satisfy the need of the people who have no real interest in art but only to see what they think is art and western aprt of the world generally accepted that realism is something to be pursued, it’s something like greek vs roman sculpture, where greek was conveying a certain notion, and roman portraying superficially. But it’s what pays so I understand though not agree with. To put it in short
About the studies, the ones on this last page are entirely for me, but I do that for a job as well, not this loosely though. These are portraits of some of my family members.
JL-Art, I’m glad you’ll find a use for them!
Thanks Skinnybonez!
Great work Dmitrij !!! thanks for the teeth, keep it up!
Thanks Mutte! You are most welcome
