Dmitrij Leppée Sketchbook

There are no physical deities. Plus its freedom of speech, which we have here in America. Jesus has been the butt of so many jokes. If you ask us to be tolerant of your religion, be tolerant of our right to freedom of speech.

Any image of a god is a metaphor. Dont get into arguments or wars or fights for a metaphor. Its stupid.

Also newguest, with all due respect, what if Ganeša really looked like a zombie and you were wrong all your life? ;):+1:

Hi, I’m doing this one every now and again. It’s Angelina Jolie at the age of 19, for references I’m using the movie Hackers. I present you early wip

angieh

I guess I’ll never finish it though. The thing is if I’m not payed I wouldn’t do this kind of crap anyways  just enough to satisfy my curiosity, and that’s why it’s all half done, I don’t need to do finish it in a conventional meaning, everything already exists in my head, so a sketch is always enough to remind me of the completed work existing in myself, if someone needs me to finish prepare to pay good…if anyone was wondering

Must say what you just sayd is hughe bs.
Youll never know if you can pull it off on a high quality level if you have never done it.
Potential employers will be thinking just that if they at all think about it
and not just press delete.
I have countless movies and characters and music videos finished in my head
but still i cant just make them as i imagine.
The really good people do this kind of crap because its one of their passions.
Theyd do it even if it wasnt payd.
And just because of that attitude they get on such a high level and
payd.
The free of charge freelancer model simply shows that you still have a lot to learn.
You dont stay on low subdivision levels long enough.
The forms arent looking good and still you go up and add alpha detail.
Thats the last thing you do to a sculpt when everything is looking great.
Just going up a few levels and slapping on some alphas just wont do the trick im afraid.

Your new sculpt show same behaviour.
The right angle makes the lips not look that bad but when you look
at the left one you see that the whole face is very flat.
Again this comes from going up to fast.
The forms are very solid now and sculpting is more of a scratching on
surface style.
Drop levels delete higher ones and get the forms right.
Even if this means that you cant sculüpt her pretty lips on that level it
doesnt matter because theres much more you need to do first.
By going up levels carefully sculpting each one to its limits or needs you
also prevent the surface from looking blobby.

Hi DiscoStu! Thanks for the comprehensive reply and advices! Much appreciated here.

Just one remark:

“I have countless movies and characters and music videos finished in my head
but still i cant just make them as i imagine.”

Well, I can and really don’t have the urge to prove myself to anyone so I’m a happy camper  this isn’t even my day job.

Best regards, and keep commenting :+1:
cherub

cheers:)

Trying out different workflows for the eye, for this one I created an iris alpha and used it as a stencil. Nothing complicated for good results so I wanted to share for the n00bs []

another wip of a model for my short film, it’ll be done when I’m satisfied with the models, thinking particles animation is set up and waiting

I’ll upload a better render as soon as I check out some rendering tutorials
EDIT: test texturing the cerebellum as well

nice start … really looks organic. Keep on !!!

i really dig your work, the eye alpha is awesome! Did you hand paint it? You are a great artist! and you have a good head on your shoulders… you are so freaking good and you only have 2 stars?!? to me that is a crime! You deserve more!!

HiPi - thanks a bunch!

cubanb82 - you’re much too kind sir. As you see I’m new in zbrush and all 3D, but doing the best I can to get my film done in a short amount of time to meet the deadline which is in a month

EDIT: Oh, the apha - however you’ll be disappointed when I tell you  I just downloaded this picture http://www.rooksrant.com/images/12_2007/Eye%20Scapes%20-%2001.jpg, opened it in photoshop -> desaturate -> contrast x 3 or 4 times -> invert -> voila. I’ll try doing my own when I find the time.

Hi I posted this in some other thread but wanted to post it here as well
A 2 minutes cloth model, to perhaps interest you and show you that you can save a lot of time on modeling fabrics with a 3d software help  Nothing except divisions done in zbrush, all 3ds max obj exported to ztool. Needless to say you can do your cloth, clothes, fabrics model in zbrush, import it to a 3dsoftware and apply the cloth modifier to it so it acts more natural, play with different gravity, mass, and wind settings as well. Imagine you don’t have ever again to do foldings and creases on your model’s clothes. But for study purposes it’s of course good to create your own effects to attain the sensibility and visual experience, with which know how to adjust the reactor settings for a more realistic result. I’m past that stage and make use of physics engines as much as I can, it’s just more logical and far better results in a shorter amount of time, but don’t be fooled you’ll suddenly make great art, if you sucked before you’ll suck with this knowledge as well - it’s the tip of the iceberg as they say.

Made the box model in a 3d software and made a plane above it, apply the cloth modifier and let it land on the box, U can then use any point in animation of the cloth to export an obj of it, by moving the time slider. I’m doing this all the time. I’m using max and here’s how I do it - I animate whatever I want, then move the time slider to where I like the model the best for my still image, disable all other objects and export to obj - and that’s all there is to it.

Hello, 45 min sculpt, no retopo, just good ol’ fun
Not a fan of the movies, I don’t know why but I had to say it  I enjoy the books though

[](javascript:zb_insimg(‘150110’,‘balrog.jpg’,1,0))balrog.jpg

why the major noise filter? I can’t see what’s behind it.

You won’t get a better look at balrog than this, cause they’re extinct :laughing:small_orange_diamond:+1:

I don’t think he was doing it to be disrespectful it was merely a suggestion from someone else, and cherub’s way of flexing his creativity and skills, no harm done on his behalf.

As stubborn as I am, really pays off to work work work, I’m still fresh to the program and cg in general, but with each new model I feel I’m getting better and better at itl, even though I thought my first model was groundbraking  Shame I don’t have the drive more often though being stubborn as hell, cause I can see myself going up all the way to the top row, however it would kill the nostalgia if I were in the top row

Just finished reading Wintersmith, didn’t like it as much as Thud!, but was inspired to make this character. It’s a wip really, but c&c please I could use all the help I can get to finish off my heart and brain models.

Edit, I've done some more changes to the overall look. Next stop finishing the ear and the back of the head, some more details and mental ray
