Hey, this was a skull study I did today to better prepare for the challenge over at the cgsociety, and then turned itnto the Death of Discworld Also happy with it as it’s my first real model from a sphere believe it or not

Hey Cherub Rock! I’m a big Smashing Pumpkins fan too! I love your skull. Not bad for a first attempt -amazing even! I hear ya and I believe you, it’s not uncommon for someone to take to 3D so quickly. There are a few students at my school who took to their first 3D class rather quickly.
Also, I really like your use of noise and smoke. Also the cloth is really nice. Love the bone texture as well!
Looking forward to your latest pieces! Keep up the great work!
Rolf
not bad. see you at 3dhr
Hey! Thanks! Good to see you here, l8r
Great skull and cloak! I Really enjoy it.
Aberrant, thanks, glad you like it! I thought of enhancing it, but there’s something I like about it as it is btw I was presented a new anatomy atlas, this one in a language I can understand at least, so am very inspired to re-learn anatomy (something I can’t get a hold of I don’t like reading from a screen)
Just a little go at speed sculpting from a cube, about an hour.

Great work for 1 hour!
Thanks Aberrant! I find it more intuitive than starting from a base mesh. You get a better sense of form when it’s not already layed out to a degree. From now on I’m modeling like this, and then retopologizing
btw it’s a caricature of our first president (again lol)
Another angle. Comments very welcome!

Nice blocking in/flow of shapes and volumes on that latest! Quote:“I find it more intuitive than starting from a base mesh. You get a better sense of form when it’s not already layed out to a degree. From now on I’m modeling like this, and then retopologizing” I totally agree! Keep goin
.
Hey Etcher thanks for stopping by! Now I know what you meant when a while ago you said that Zbrush is the closest thing to getting your hands in real clay (and I argues hehe). But it really is. I love it! All the best in your own explorations!
BTW I never thanked you for the tip of the let-go-shift smoothing. Thanks a bunch
Another speedy; base was poly cube

perfect face ^^
LOL! The pope looks like the Emperor from Star Wars!
Thanks guys!
Disco Stu, I just got the inspiration yesterday, and had to do it. There’s something I obviously like about those stiff lip faces (our late president and now the pope)
Womball when I was looking fot the reference I would mostly get Palpatine yes
If anyone is interested here’s the drill for these last two:
Polycube, make a couple of subd’s, claytubes to model a quick skull, move brush for proportions. Again claytubes for the nose, eyes, cheeks and the ears. And then I look for the reference. That way I don’t get the anatomy confused. Now I continue with clay brush, clay tubes, smoothing and damien standard brush, and that’s pretty much it.
Bye
Nnother one, likeness caricature as well, this of Johnny Štulić, frontman of Azra

ALRIGHT…:) Finding your groove and style of sculpting in Z Brush I see…
Really nice sculpting on these last few…capturing some great emotion/feeling…Sometimes less can be more…POWERFUL AND INTERESTING…
The last one reminds me of a Rodin sculpt style…Powerful…
