You know I love shrimp. . . . . . . But I dont think I would eat this one haha.

Yeah take a jack hammer to get into it:D

Thanks man!!! You’re very generous! Yesterday the great MatCaps, today… The Killer Shrimp!!! I’ll definitely let you know if it ends up somewhere cool or doing something good! :+1: :+1: :+1: :+1: :+1: !

Mmmmmm hard edge sculpting. Can be a pain at times. How do you approach your hard edges? Do you use the “lazy mouse” and clay brush?

@Geert_Etcher_Melis - Ty, hope some of its helpful to someone. Just trying to give back to the community.
@Nigthwalker_j - I pretty much followed the techniques listed by Nerveink, Ced66 and -FoOd- (among others). Spend a good bit of time reading and really looking at posts. It (for me) comes down to Clay brush, flatten and smooth. Clay to lay out the shape, flatten to well flatten the top and side of the shape and smooth to sort out and wierdness. Rinse and repeat. It was some time before it occured to me to keep refining to furhter tighten the edges. So you lay down a path of raised geometry, use flatten along the highest raise area, right up to the edge and keep scaling down the brush and zooming in to really tighten it but also to the sides of the raised area.

Im sure one of the whiz-bang guys have some gnarly way of doing it cleaner and faster but this has worked for me. Bit long but I hope it helps!

great pieces

Thanks dman3d for these matcaps and tut
you really rocks:+1:

Ha, thanks for sharing the knowledge, I was toying with a similar flow, nice to see I was on the right track.

Very usefull techniques. One technique I have been using is with lazy mouse enabled, high brush mod, falloff to max wide, and using the clay brush. I find if I make my strokes even enough all I may have to do is smooth out the sides a little or maybe pinch the edges a bit.

@Lord Thanatos x - :+1:
@arunzb - hope it helps:+1:
@jaystein777 - np, there are tons of methods, hope it helps:+1:
@nightwalker_j - yeah one of many ways. I use a wacom intuous 3. Im a lefty but I use a mouse (among other things) right handed. So, when I sculpt or paint I use my left with the stylus which is more natural for me, but in MAX is use my right with mouse. For control lazymouse certainly helps.:wink: Great thing about ZB is there is so many ways to do things, helps make each of us comfortable in our own way.

Hope this stuff at least helps a couple ppl.

Trying to get the skin over bone looking stuff down next. That tight pulled
skin with the pits and what not in it. Not too convincing yet. I think the toughest part is “seeing through” the effect to really understand and percieve it. Once you get that you can move on practice.

Well if your a geek like me you probably (or not lol) have a guilty pleasure of watching Big trouble in little china. One of my favorite cheesy movies ever! Anyway thought I might have a go at re-creating the “Guardian” character/creature for an exercise. I dont think I have the skill to do a human actor but feel a bit more comfortable giving this guy a whack.
Im not sure who made the original or the concept. If you happen to know let me know so I can give proper credit.

Love the movie and the sculpt is starting to look nice.

You make amazing works,
I haven’t seen the movie but this is incredible,
your works are JUST my style, I even thought of some ideas for modules to make in Zbrush (I’m a beginner :P) and i saw your works and some of them look exactly like what my ideas were :lol:
you should keep working on this one :]

aaahh nice! I havent seen that movie in a loooong time.

Fantastic mats, thanx for share.
Your arts are great. Spoon rocks :+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:

@DAconia - :+1:
@InsoManiac - welcome to the fold and thx
@nightwallkerj - :+1:
b2przemo - ty, hope the mats come in handy

Here is an update. Adding the tentacles. Going non-symmetrical here on and working out more details. Having a bit of trouble getting the likeness down but thats what this exercise is all about.
