Division problem

I’m sculpting a model that i imported from 3dsmax and then split into several subtools. i sculpted one of the subtools without a problem. when i go to sculpt the next subtool, i first want to give it a couple subd levels. however, when i divide, it immediatly deletes any previous subd levels and only shows that i have one level. also it usually does a smooth when i divide, that is not happening either.

I have tried hiding all other subtools and then extracting the visible polys to a new subtool, but i get the error “The Resulting 3d mesh does not contain any polygons, Operation Cancelled”

i was unable to find an exsisting post that addressed this issue, please help.

I’m not familiar with what’s happening to you either. It sounds like something’s not working the way it should.

The first thing to try is to double-click to launch ZBrush and then immediately hold Shift until it finishes loading. This disables plugins. Then go ahead and do some testing. If the problem has gone away, then you’ll know it’s one of your plugins causing a conflict.

If you continue to have difficulty, could you try posting some screenshots of the model with polyframe turned on, showing the issue?

well, i dont have any plugins running right now, so i guess i can rule that out. here’s some SS’s:

unchanged:

Subdivided Once:

sounds to me like a local subdivision

tool>masking>clear

then try to divide the model.

when you perform a local subD smoothing isn’t applied to a model.
give that a try, see if it works.

i must have masked a tiny portion of it by accident. that fixed it, thanks a ton!
