Divide visible polygroup

I’m currently using Zbrush 3.5r3 and am having trouble dividing a visible polygroup and keeping the object with more than one polygroup. In v3.1 I could easily take an object that lets say has 4 polygroups and hide all but one. Then I could divide just that polygroup. After divided I could hide all polygroups, but the new divided polygroup and divide it again and so on. This way I could get one group very dense while the rest of the object stayed simple (less subdivisions). With v 3.5r3 once I divide the one polygroup it changes the whole object back into one polygroup instead of keeping the polygroups separate like it use to in v3.1. How can I do this in 3.5r3?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, I’m still a beginner.

It looks to me as if such as locally dividing an area will delete polygroups in 3.5R3.

One tactic would be to save your polygroups as a polypaint. (Polypaint from Polygroups button) and then restore them (Polygroups from Polypaint button.)

That works well. Thanks for the suggestions.
