Dissplacment driving me crazy! ZB to Max?

Iv spent hours on this and just is not working for me? Im learning 3ds max and have exported from zbrush to max to rig a model from zbrush and now want to add a dissplacment map for my final render. Here is what iv done please can somone tel me where im going wrong?

  1. Make model, add detail and then goto sub lev 1, go to textures/ GUV tiles.
  2. IN dissplament settings sellect adaptive and smooth Uv and set DPres at 4096 and create dissplacment map.
  3. sellect dissplacment alpha and export.
  4. export model at sub lev 1.
  5. import model into 3ds max. max options (single) (texture coordinants) (smooth grp 1) (vertex 2.0)

6)Add mesh smooth modifier with Render values ticked ,Lterations 4.
7)Add from parrametric deformers, Displace and then click on Map ,sellect BMP. This opens box to sellect map. I load map. Sellect (apply mapping) in dispace settings.

  1. Open Materials drag map from displace map box into first material. sellect instance from pop up menu.

9)IN materials at bottom on settings output settings click on enable colour map and set graph on left graph pointer to -1 to make map darker.

  1. Increase strength in displace settings and see a complete mess made of the mesh. All I see is spikes coming out my mesh. Iv tryed the above on simple objects and can see somthink coming through but not where it should be and what it should be?

This lesson is written on russian, but all to understand on pictures.

The main thing at export of Maps from ZBrush in 3DMax - to make Tiling V =>-1 (in figure in a yellow square)

. But the problem not in it can, there Are lessons on this theme and in English, use search and advice of other people
I wish good luck

Thanks for that info, I followed it to a T but could not find this menu. Everthink els I did but still didnt work. The actual map dosent even defore the mesh that looks anthink like the map iv made. The map works fine in zbrush as I deleted higher subs and applyed the map and works fine.

This is what im getting.

Looks like your base low-res model in 3dsmax is not mapped correctly.
What UVW type are you using on your low-res model within 3dsmax ?

Did you forget to flip the map vertically?

Ok sorted it the only thing I did wrong was I needed to tick the (Use exciting maping) in the displace modifiers.

Anyone need detailed help with this il send them a video turorial showing the whole process from zbrush to 3ds max and final render.:+1:

I’d be interested in seeing the process you took.
I’m a new zBrush user working in a 3dsmax environment.

Yea sure just PM me and il send you my msn address. The file will be too big to send any other way.
