Displacement maps, please give me a clue what it is

OK. What is used displacement maps? It is used for film on more realistic characters? What is the different from normal maps?

What is the way of creating displacement maps? I tried to find on internet, but nothing good or informative.
How to use this maps, when creating characters?

I already know this. But is not good information of making them.

Displacement maps displace the low poly or mid poly mesh so it looks like it has volume of highest subdivision level even though it hasn’t. Bump/normal maps don’t do this. How to generate it? Setup uv’s for your mesh, and click create displacement map :slight_smile:

So, as far i understand the workflow is this.
Zbrush sculpt model
Retopo
Uv’s new retopo model
Applying on low poly model displacement maps.

That’s it?
