Displacement Map Problems

|Hey guys,
|

I have a problem with ZBrush generating Displacement Maps and I’m at a loss at the moment…
I’ ve got a mountain from Maya with proper UVs.
When I subdivide it a few times to prepare for sculpting and generate a Displacement Map in the Tool: Displacement Map palette, without even sculpting, I get strenghened edges on my Map, where there should be nothing but a monotonous grey.

I tried everything I could think of, different adjustments in the displacement map palette, Smt on and off while subdividing the mesh, but nothing would work.
There are meshes that get proper Displ Maps, but my mountains and some other meshes always get the edgy results.

The Image shows my UVs for the mountain, below the mountain importet to Zbrush with polyframe on and underneath that’s the generated displacement Map.

Does somebody have experienced this problem too or knows how to solve it?
I gladly apprechiate any help!
Thank you in advance!

tried enabling/disabling smooth uv’s?

also perhaps try increase the dpsubpix when you bake, or try adaptive.
These could have an effect on your maps.

Also perhaps bake all layers if you have any?

Thank you for your quick answer, Darxx!
But unfortunately none of the values I’m changing seem to fix the problem.
I exercised your suggestions, but there are still these edges on my map :frowning:

I’m also not using any layers, because I don’t even sculpt on the model, I’m just subdividing it and still getting a displacement I didn’t sculpt.

Is there anything else you can think of that could evoke such a result? Could it be a defect or something in the mesh from maya? We tried to convert the mesh in all the ways we could think of, but still got the wrong results from ZBrush.

I’m really helpless…
I’m thankful for any further help

Hey guys,
unfortunately I’m still stuck on the problem :frowning:
Do you have any other ideas?

Thanks a lot in advance!

Hey guys,

finally I solved the problem by using the Subdivide Smooth Button only for subdividing my mountain and switching the Morph Target for Subdivision Level 1 before creating and exporting the displacement map.
