displacement map problem

hi guys,

m making displacement map (tools - displacement map - create displacement ) . but when i apply it on maya to the bump its getting some problem ( which i cant xplain here ), i upload images.

please see it. and give me some solutions.

It looks like your map is being changed to an 8-bit grayscale somehow. Are you exporting it from the Alpha palette (as you should), or are you transferring it to the Texture palette first? What format are you exporting? Are you adjusting the map in any other applications prior to taking it into Maya?
