Displacement Map Problem! (Maya)

I modeled a guy in maya, sculpted him in Zbrush, then created displacement map, brought it back to maya. After applying texture map and displacement map, I noticed weird hard edges on his face. Why is this happening? I used the same setup and pipeline as the previous model I did a month ago. Didn’t have this kind of problem. Does anyone have any clue why this is happening? I’ve tried both softening/hardened edge function in maya, but didn’t affect anything.

What version of Maya are you using?
Maya 2008 uses a different method for displacement maps.

oh does it? yes, i’m using maya 2008 now and that’s why… i’m not sure what i’m supposed to change to make it work. if you know any good link regarding displacement map in maya2008, that’d be greatly appreciated. or even any comment or tip is fine.
